The Expedition section involves planning, training for and completing an unaccompanied, self-reliant expedition with an agreed team goal. It consists of the following parts:
- Expedition training
- A practice expedition (Silver and Gold only)
- The qualifying expedition
- A presentation (Silver and Gold only)
The start date of each part must not must not clash with the enrolment date, other parts of the expedition section, or the expedition section of previous levels of the Award. Each part must take place in chronological order e.g. the start date of the qualifying expedition must occur after the practice expedition.

Where do I add expedition details on eDofE?
1. Log in to eDofE and click on ‘Manage Participants -> Expedition Set Up' in the left hand menu.
2. Use the filters to find your participant(s).
You will need to select the Award level (e.g. Bronze, Silver or Gold), then click the 'Search' button.
3. You can then use the respective tabs to complete the required sections.

Expedition Training
Safety is paramount when it comes to the expedition. Therefore, it is essential that all participants complete training in line with the DofE Expedition Training Framework. Training should be appropriate to the team goal, location and journey type. For a full list of what the training should cover, please refer to the DofE Leaders' Handbook.

Practice Expedition (Silver and Gold only)
Please Note: A practice expedition is not required for Bronze expeditions
You can either create a brand new practice expedition or add participants to an existing expedition using an expedition reference.
Participants can complete multiple practice expeditions.
Qualifying Expedition
You can either create a brand new qualifying expedition or add participants to an existing expedition using an expedition reference.
Qualifying expedition can't be deleted or edited. Instead, you will need to add a new qualifying expedition. This will overwrite any existing qualifying expedition which had previously been added.
All qualifying expeditions must be of the correct duration and meet the minimum hours of planned activity.
Expedition Presentation (Silver and Gold only)
Please Note: A presentation is not required for the Bronze Award.
The information in the presentation section cannot be deleted. To make any amendments, you will simply need to re-complete the presentation set up. Anything you enter will overwrite any existing presentation.
