Current Process
At present assessors submit their reports via the online Assessor Portal.
To do this they are required to enter a participant’s ID number, Award Level, and the section they’re addressing. Once doing so they are shown the participants name and section goals, allowing them to write their report. Before submitting the Assessor must enter their own personal details – name, position, email address and contact number.
Why are we making a change?
There is currently no validation of the Assessors email address and so, this can lead to false reports being written/submitted and is possible for someone to enter an eDofE ID number, level and section and see a participant’s name.
Therefore, the risk being mitigated is false reports being submitted and a potential for participants name being shown to non-assessors.
What’s the change?
The change being implemented will ensure that, prior to unlocking any reporting fields, we ask for an Assessors email address to which we will then send a verification code. This code must be entered before the Assessor can continue and enter the participants ID number, level, and section they’re assessing. The section details will then be retrieved but with only the first name initial and surname of the participant being displayed, e.g J****** Smith, into the name field.
This will help to reduce the number of false reports being submitted and will provide us details of those submitting the false reports. Furthermore, this will also help to further increase our safeguarding of participants by confirming assessors are the ones submitting the reports and ensuring if a false report is being submitted that the full participants name won’t show to increasingly prevent any safeguarding concerns.
How often will the verification code be required?
The details entered for the verification code will be saved for 6 months, therefore the verification code will only be required every 6 months. However, if you were to clear your cache and cookies or access the Assessor Portal from a different IP address the the verification code would be required again.
