Internet browsers use a 'cache' to help speed up the page loading process. Sometimes your browser's cache can cause visual bugs on the webpage that is being viewed. By clearing your browser's cache, many problems will be resolved.
Clearing your cache does not affect any documents you have downloaded onto your computer or laptop.
I have been asked to clear my cache, how do I do this?
On most browsers, you can clear your cache by pressing 'Ctrl'+'Shift'+'Delete'.
This should bring up the right page from the browser settings to allow you to clear your cache.
How do I clear my cache on Google Chrome?
To clear your cache on Chrome:
- Open Google Chrome and have it visible on your screen.
- Press 'Ctrl'+'Shift'+'Delete' on your keyboard at the same time.
- You will then need to select 'Browsing history', 'Cookies and other site data' and 'Cached images and files'.
- Select 'Clear data'.
- Close your browser.
- When you reopen it, your cache will be cleared.
How do I clear my cache on Microsoft Edge?
To clear your cache on Microsoft Edge,
- Open Microsoft Edge and have it visible on your screen.
- Press 'Ctrl'+'Shift'+'Delete' on your keyboard at the same time.
- You will then need to select 'Browsing history', 'Download history', 'Cookies and other site data' and 'Cached images and files'.
- Select 'Clear now'
- Close your browser.
- When you reopen it, your cache will be cleared.
How do I clear my cache on Mozilla Firefox?
To clear your cache on Firefox:
- Open Firefox and have it visible on your screen.
- Press 'Ctrl'+'Shift'+'Delete' on your keyboard at the same time.
- You will then need to select 'Browsing & Download History', 'Form and Search Hierarchy', 'Cookies' and 'Cache'.
- Select 'Clear Now'.
- Close your browser.
- When you reopen it, your cache will be cleared.
