Participant Assessor reports that are submitted via the Assessor Report Portal dofe.org/assessor are currently reviewed by an adult, prior to becoming visible to a participant. The average time across all our licensed operators is 12 days from submission. This step was initially introduced to ensure that no inappropriate content could be sent from a public facing website directly to a young person. This however introduced a bottleneck in approvals, as of 4th October 2022 there are over 10K assessor reports waiting to be approved with the oldest having been submitted 13 months ago. With our new solution we will improve safety of young people and speed up and eliminate a little administrative burden on Leaders.
From April 2023 all assessor reports submitted via the portal are automatically checked against a profanity database, CRISP. Reports that are not flagged by CRISP are sent to the participants account and are visible immediately. Reports that are flagged by CRISP are held for review and can take up to 72 hours to be visible on the participant’s account. Please be reassured, if an assessor receives a confirmation email, the report will have been successfully submitted.
It remains the role of the Leader to quality check and validate all assessments that have reached the participant, relevant to the section.
FAQs
Q What is CRISP, will we get lots of alerts?
CRISP is our external tool, which we already use to moderate and manage messages from adults to participants and vice versa.
Q Do I have to approve the report again?
A Once this is on the participants account you do not have to approve again as it is automatically system approved. The leader can review when the section is ready to be approved.
Q Will the backlog of submissions be processed, or will this only work for new submissions?
A We will submit all pending portal assessments as a batch. We have tested triggering checks and also re-tested thousands of previously approved assessments.
Q The solution sounds great but does not work for my LO/Centre. Can this be enabled on a LO or centre basis?
A The solution will be implemented at an agreed date for all LO’s Unfortunately it cannot be ON or OFF for individual LO’s or Centres.
Q Are their other areas of eDofE that are being looked at to reduce the burden on adults managing the award?
A Yes, we are always interested in reviewing areas in eDofE that can make us more efficient.
